I need to escape through poetry
to a world only poets know
I have been known to walk golden paths
lay in lillies
and catch golden dust
I may have danced with a poet
in a dimension only poets know.

I may have lied naked in fields a time or two
made love in my fantasies
and wildest dreams.

I need to escape through poetry
I met the sunset once in a poem
dreaming I was the sunrise

I need to escape through poetry
I have cursed people out
and they never even knew
with the support of my fellow poets
backing me up.

I need to escape through poetry
I think I have seen poet's light
I caught the stars with fairy dust
stared of the atlantic

I need to escape through poetry
without poetry
its better than any vice
where my words just splatter
and create metaphores
only poets understand.

I need to escape through poetry
I may have fallen in love
through poetic connections
my heart has burned with only the
brush of a few choice words.

I need to escape through poetry
if I did not who knows what I would do
I have lied blood stricken on a subway floor once

I need to escape through poetry
I need the words to let out
better than any therapy
poetry my dear poets, and my dreams
my deepest darkest and brightest escape.

    A wonderful piece showing that poetry means a lot to you and that it is part of your life. Is filled with hope and romance. A great rhythem to it.

    I like this stanza a lot.

    You're really passionate about poetry, aren't you? Well, I'm starting to feel it, so you've just given me a burst of energy on what it feels to be a poet just by reading this. That's a really good thing for poetry, to be able to see the world in a different way, especially a world full of poetry. I like how you repeat 'I need to escape through poetry' as the first line in every stanza, it really emphasizes that point.

    A good write on what poetry really feels like. =)
