We retrace our waltz on the lonely sidewalk
where the shattered streetlamp fails to compete with the moon;
our footsteps follow the silent composition of Schubert
as we become the echo-less melody of a forgotten symphony.
Shadows coward under winter's nonchalant stares,
and even Selene wanes as the last leaf goes to sleep.
Outside the frosted café window, our eyes eagerly
search for falling stars, but our tongues touch not snowflakes,
but mere raindrops as the clouds drape over Diana;
in her absence, we stumble through the evergreen.

Your description is superb in this. I feel a touch of romance even though some of your words lead to a more lonely feeling. I love the wave of emotions I get when I read this from beginning to end.

Very beautiful. Great job.

Your first stanza, powerfully provocative to the image-maker in my head.
Did you mean shows cower or shadow's coward? I stumbled on that.
I love the symbolism in the evergreen...the knowing that they are there, although we may not see them. Nicely done!

This is really lovely, so soft and gentle.

Ah! Draping over Diana... stumbling voer that which is here instead of what is expected. Sidewalks and evergreens... quite the contrast... appropriate I think. Great take on the prompt.
