On an isolated lake in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan there is a small two-room log cabin, which rests in a clearing adjacent to hundreds of magnificent pine trees. I could step outside and breathe in the brisk morning air and know I’m in Gods country. Then I could grab a fishing rod and walk down to the water’s edge and fish for breakfast which would be cooked over an open flame while a pot of strong coffee sits perking, nestled in the red hot coals.
I could paint the beautiful surrounding scenery and the numerous wildlife, which frolics in the area. Or I could just paint the face of the one I love, which is always in the forefront of my mind. I could spend countless hours in solitude, writing, with only an occasional interruption by a passing squirrel gathering acorns. There are no telephone lines or cable lines so I would be isolated from the busy world I live in now except for a weekly sojourn into the small town many miles away for supplies.
For lunch I could eat homemade jerky or smoked fish and fresh picked black berries from the berry patch off the trail near the cabin. For a midday snack I could eat the wintergreen berries found near the woods as I stroll along on my daily walk. They taste just like wintergreen gum. After my walk I would then grab my fishing rod and fish for my dinner.
I could spend my evening sitting by an open campfire strumming my guitar and singing songs. There would be no one there to criticize my singing so I could just let it all out.
I could be Elvis Presley or Tom Jones or who ever I want to be. There will be no one listening except the animals.
When I become sleepy I could either sleep by the campfire under the clear starry night sky or sleep in the cabin until the next daylight comes. I will then walk outside and breathe in the cool brisk air.
This is where I want to live. This is where I want to die.

So beautiful. Though I haven't had the honor of exploring the UP, I am most certainly familiar with Michigan's beauty! *SIGH*
