Dreaming……..
When I’ve nothing to do except lie in the sun
with a tinny beside me (maybe more than one)
I invariably dream of the love of my life,
of Sally, who’s now Hinemoa, my wife.
Though I may have had many dear girl-friends before
and each, I believed, I could never love more,
some lasted a season, some only a day,
but all, for some reason just drifted away.
Then, when I met Sally we just seemed to fit
and I soon realised that, for me, she was IT.
Her previous marriage was not a success -
she been left to support two fine children, no less.
I eventually asked her if she’d be my wife.
That she answered “Oh Yes!” was the joy of my life.
Hugh Wyles and Angelica witnessed our troth
and we now live in Christchurch, much loved by us both.
Although I’m still working and travel away,
I try to get home just as soon as I may.
She is no longer Sally but is now Hinemoa
and when I’m not with her time passes much slower.
So whenever I chance to relax and day-dream,
It’s her that I dream of – the crème de la crème.

Aw! I wish someone had written me a love poem like that.
If that is her picture she is beautiful and you are a lucky man

-
If this doesn't keep her convinced of your love, thenI don't know what will
A lovely way to express that love, Heath. Your Hinemoa is one lucky lady to have you and you're a lucky guy to have her.
It's a good thing she keeps you in line, too. Just keep those love poems flowing and you'll have her hooked forever
Best of luck in the contest
Dee

Sweet poem of your love for your darling Hinemoa!
Cupid's dart is in your heart..though love may cause pain, much more do you gain! May the love in your heart always remain.
Best of Luck in this contest!

Dear Heath, Hine will love this when she reads it if she hasn't already. The two of you were both blessed to meet each other, I know you have to spend time away from each other but boy! I bet you both make up for it when you get home.
A beautiful poem dear Heath.

Ideal
This poem is written very well and demonstrates the best of married love, when husband and wife are dreaming of each other and putting the past where it belongs, in the past.
Great work, and lovely to read. Cheers, M

Dear Heathcote,
Thanks for responding to my urging and for writing this very fine entry in our 50th Huguenauty contest. I think it's a great pity that you have to leave Hinemoa so often and, at your age, still work for a living but I realise that it's not easy to make money as a writer (or worse still a poet) in New Zealand or even in Australia unless you write cookbooks or crime whodunnits.
Best of luck in the voting for your splendid poem.
Regards and love, Hugh (R.)
