Once More Free

I folded myself into the cage of the woman you want.

Once I wanted nothing more then to be loved by you.

Once I dreamed of being able to fit in your world.

Once I wished you'd fall in love with me.

"Once" died long ago a long with the me I was then.

I stand here contemplating being me once again but being me means losing you. You own my heart but your love's conditions are to constricting.

You want the woman I was only if you could pick out the parts you like and tear apart the parts you didn't like, as if they were tattered unneeded pieces of fabric you could easily throw away.

My soul lies broken outside the cage you made for me begging me to let it back inside of me and cries to make me whole again.

Living without my spirit and my soul is unbearable and not living at all. Barely exsisting isn't enough for me, and shouldn't be enough for you.

You didn't understand, and won't understand that those were the parts that were the essence of me and the parts of me you loved.

I desert the cage you made for me and accept my soul, and take back the discarded pieces of my spirit. I now watch you with pity - you don't see that cage no longer fits.

Shortly the cage will be empty and I will spread my wings and fly strong once more, me once more, and once more free .
