i tend the mist
gardening it to shame.
i place tinder strategically around the pit,
wishing it would melt my soul.
i swallow in the smart strands of flame,
wishing i was burnt.

A concise, lucid treatment of the mysterious, puzzling, often painful world of feelings--carefully-chosen words and phrases project the imagery of a "wisp of a fire," and there is a hypnotic effect in the vertical doubled words at the end. I love the alliteration of "willowing wisp" and "smart strands," and the fire-colored rose background fits well.
