I remember when the kids went to school.
One year they did Pilgrim collars,
To wear on Thanksgiving day.
Another one had a headband
With feathers he fluffed too.
The thrill of having them all,
Was a joy to us all.
Now they come with all the brood.
Like what is all new.
Music blasting- what is new.
Food prepared, table all set.
Then we hear, I don't eat that.
We want to go shopping?-
What in the world is wrong.
No fighting at the table.
Try a bit, just for fun.
Later we will go out and run.
Dad stack the dishes,
Mom puts away the food.
The house is quiet- that is good.

Nice write Mac...Fond memories. Thanksgiving was always a big time at our Parents Home. I was the last to help cook the Dinner or in later yrs. I cooked the dinner. I decided after 20 yrs. of this I wanted to have my own dinner. I didn't know if my Mom was coming until my Dad pulled into the driveway. She still wanted it at their house. Family gatherings are nice. I think my son and I are going out for dinner this year. Too many leftovers to get rid of when I cook. I wish you and yours a Happy Thanksgiving.
