His face was happiness, glowing so bright
vivacious like a wild stag in the field
eyes hid his longing of love in the night,
as cravings for pleasure. about to yield
hands stronger than hammers, knotted with snarls
heart tender, having been hurt through the years
his fist sometimes doubled up in angry gnarls,
remembering disappointments and tears
now quiet beating of his heart felt calm
looking at her beauty with disbelief,
love he yearn for, could fill his empty arm
She’d be the answer to prayers and grief
old in years, but still had vitality,
dreams never becoming reality...

This is a beautifully written sonnet. By far one of the best I have read. Fantastic job, thank you so much for entering.

I am in love with this and maybe after the contest I will place it among my book marked poetry ... if I have any. At any rate this is among my favorites. Thank you for entering the contest. I know someone just like the person described. I am hopeful that whatever dreams he has may come to fruition. Good people deserve good things. Thank you for entering.

I can certainly relate to this poem, being not exactly a youngster myself! lol. Good content, nicely handled.
Good luck in the contest,
Bill

Oh, oh. You have revealed our secret. Hope you are wrong about dreams never becoming reality though.
