Jealousy

As the smoke wafts from the city chimney spires,
And the sun goes down so red and angrily,
I am tortured by jade green, dark desires,
It is you, beloved you ,that tortures me.
I walk around in yellow chiffon fragments,
I stare out at the city all lit up,
The sky is crimson like my hurt and torment,
I go inside and fill my coffee cup.
Somewhere in the smoky night you wander,
Seeking out the new love you have found.
You walk so fast ,so eager now to see her...
Your wicked feet just barely touch the ground.
I close my eyes and let the torture find me,
An exquisite pain I have learned to bear.
A torture burning brighter than the city,
A haunting cry just hanging in the air.
