Oh the memories of Christmas past,
one where a certain gift forever lasts.
How my Dad worked away from home all the time,
yet showed up on christmas morning and got us all in a line .
Eight children before him yet he carried a great big smile,
and reached into a bag of gifts he had chosen along those lobnely miles.
Handing out packages wrapped in brown paper sack ,
it was the gretesr Christmas we had ever had.
He gave to y oldest brother s cross he had carved,
and to my oldest sister a diary that would take her far.
My sister linda the fisher she got a new luer,
And annette the prettiest tea set she so adured.
For Lois there was a scarf ,
and for me a package of sachet.
it had an emerald green seeting,
such richjes I so displayed.
For Kim the youngest boy,
was a truck made from wood.
Made by our Daddies own hands ,
made christmas so good.
For Ruby the baby,
he had a rattler so sweet.
and then he had us all follow him outside to see.
a whole stalk of bannanas he brought for us all ,
and we climbed into the back of the truck
and had a free for all.
Oh the next morning as we each awoke,
we ran into their bedroom for one thing we did know .
That Daddy had the news paper and the funies he did read,
and the gift for mom and dad was we love you indeed.

This story reminds me of my Mom's stories growing up...the simplicity is what we need to have back again...so well told!

Funny Contest # 11
Howdy all! This is my 11th contest, and much like my first 10, I would like funny.
I think we should make fun of the holidays, the shopping, the cooking, the relatives, the headaches (you get the idea). -
The love that was plced with in makes them more valueable
than the expensive stuff you just have to buy - or what the kids scream for out now...mac

PERFECT!!!!
I was an only child but my parents would never buy me more than one toy and the rest of the gifts would be clothes. As I got older the toys were replaced with more mature things, like one year I got a microscope, another a special book I had wanted all year. Nothing expensive but each had within them something to learn from. Our holidays were spent having a nice dinner .
