Yellow field of agony,
spreading weedy misery,
slated by humanity,
a worthless weedy whore -
Yet, beauty soft in sunlight’s shade,
shows sheltered souls,
meadows made with marriage;
green and gold,
shielding blackened hearts,
showing heaven’s lights,
shining hills in daytime nights,
as anxious hopefuls roar -
each year uplifted more
with fields of golden dreams in store.

How beautifully visual and simply lovely. I enjoyed your original artwork as well. Wonderful alliteration in your second stanza that simply sings when read aloud. thank you for such a lovely entry. Best of luck in the judging. ~Pamela

Very beautiful imagery and nice meaning behind it. I think you abused alliteration early in the poem though but other then that I really enjoyed this poem. Good luck in the contest!
