What is art?
Is it subjective
to what we want it to be
or is it what it is
as it is?
Can it truly be described
or only shown?
Is art even a visible element
or just an idea
that lives behind thoughts
we associate with different emotions
and feelings
brought to our attention
through physical or verbal means.
Can art even be a single word?
For if a picture can paint
a thousand words,
then think about
what a single word can mean...
And if art is subjective
to ones own thoughts,
feelings, and preferences
then can pain or love
be an art?
Thus, I don’t have to say much
to say so much…
This is art
and this much I know

Both an interesting question and discussion; it is fascinating that there is not really a fixed answer!

Oh I really like this.
I love the way you take the reader this way & that, as thoughts are tumbled and penned to paper.

I think this poem is pure Art and it's wonderful! Everything you say here is so true, they do say "a picture is worth a thousand words" but in the Art of poetry I think the opposite can be true as so many poems can be more descriptive than the picture prompt. Great work!

wonderfully said...ever read that quote by Camus? "Abstract Art: A product of the untalented, sold by the unprincipled to the utterly bewildered."

Very lovely piece of writing, I enjoyed the thoughtful nature of the piece.

And that much is much enough to be understood and appreciated.
A wonderful take on the prompt and the combination with the message of the day was just perfect.
Just happy to read for you again.
