There she was at the fair with the guy she left me for
There was a long moment of silence
That little stand off
when neither party knows
what the other is going to do
I wonder if she sees
the same memories I see?
How we held each other
and filled the night
with the steam our kisses
and long lasting sighs
Fondling our body parts
and cloying with flesh
promising the moon.
She told me I was superman
and I wrapped her in my cape.
Time wore on and the cape got old.
She began to tell me
that I was insensitive.
that I was distant and too hard to reach.
All the wile I cradled
a bottle in my hand
and refrained from telling her my nightmares.
I loved her so I could forget my madness
and I did not want to add my madness to her
So she found someone else
to assuage her unfed fire in the night
Someone who could fill the emptiness
that I could not fill
When I found out about him
I will not lie
and say my finger did not itch
at the end of a trigger,
but I only thought about it for a while
I break the silence with a nod
and I move on
As I look behind me
I see them moving
a little slower
a little less carefree.
Moving like they have second thoughts.
as that reborn cape of mine
flutters in the wind.

Hahahahahaha!
Poetic justice!
Love the way you write! Great action verbs, great attitude!
Awesome entry - putting a positive spin on the old "woe is me, you left me" tale!
