Just to leave school gossip behind;
Paul and Billy, workin’ for a penny
Tryin’ to get a meal on the line.
With a coffee Annette just sat,
And after every shift she’d pass the hat.
Sisters Deb and Rita just a gettin’ lower in LA,
You know why it’s that.
And no one’s gettin’ fat, even Thaddeus.
Paul he said “Billy, you know there aren’t many
Who can play politics the way that you do; so let’s roll now.”
Billy said, “Daddy, by golly, don’t I wish I could get paid too?”
Jen, Billy, and Annette just sat (they were night owls)
And after every shift, they’d pass the hat.
Debra and Rita still not getting higher in LA,
You know why that’s that.
And no one’s gettin’ fat, even Thaddeus.
When Jen was a sophomore, planned to go to school more
But then she changed her mind one day.
Threatening to hitchhike, close to a fist-fight
“Take me on down south right away.”
When Jen got to L.A., she still headed southward –
Called Mom and Dad and that was the nun stuff;
Debra and Rita couldn’t get no lower
But that’s not what they were aiming at.
And no one’s getting fat, even Thaddeus.
High jumps, low slumps, big bumps, smart rumps -
Rollercoaster ride all the way.
Start up, shut down, everything got broke up;
Guess it had to end that way.
Annette and Jen getting very tuneful;
Mom, Dad, and Trishy lookin’ for a glassful.
Debra and Rita just a-burnin’ up in LA,
You know why that’s that –
And the only one gettin’ fat is Cardinal Mass.
Broke, busted, Disgusted, no one can be trusted,
and Trishy wants to go to the sea.
Jen can’t make it; she says we’ll have to fake it –
They knew she’d come home eventually.
Greasin’ on all of our express cards;
Cars no rent, but keeping out the cold is hard.
Trishy’s good vibrations and Jen’s imagination
Can’t go on indefinitely.
And California dreamin’ is no longer a reality!

Original Lyrics: (check YouTube for music)
John and Mitchy were gettin' kind of itchy
Just to leave the folk music behind;
Zal and Denny workin' for a penny
Tryin' to get a fish on the line.
In a coffee house Sebastian sat,
And after every number they'd pass the hat.
McGuinn and McGuire just a-gettin' higher in L.A.,
You know where that's at.
And no one's gettin' fat except Mama Cass.
Zally said, "Denny, you know there aren't many
Who can sing a song the way that you do; let's go south."
Denny said, "Zally, golly, don't you think that I wish
I could play guitar like you."
Zal, Denny, and Sebastian sat (at the Night Owl)
And after every number they'd pass the hat.
McGuinn and McGuire still a-gettin higher in L.A.,
You know where that's at.
And no one's gettin' fat except Mama Cass.
When Cass was a sophomore, planned to go to Swathmore
But she changed her mind one day.
Standin' on the turnpike, thumb out to hitchhike,
"Take me to New York right away."
When Denny met Cass he gave her love bumps;
Called John and Zal and that was the Mugwumps.
McGuinn and McGuire couldn't get no higher
But that's what they were aimin' at.
And no one's gettin' fat except Mama Cass.
Mugwumps, high jumps, low slumps, big bumps---
Don't you work as hard as you play.
Make up, break up, everything is shake up;
Guess it had to be that way.
Sebastian and Zal formed the 慡poonful;
Michelle, John, and Denny gettin' very tuneful.
McGuinn and McGuire just a-catchin' fire in L.A.,
You know where that's at.
And everybody's gettin' fat except Mama Cass.
Broke, busted, disgusted, agents can't be trusted,
And Mitchy wants to go to the sea.
Cass can't make it; she says we'll have to fake it---
We knew she'd come eventually.
Greasin' on American Express cards;
Tents low rent, but keeping out the heat's hard.
Duffy's good vibrations and our imaginations
Can't go on indefinitely.
And California dreamin' is becomin' a reality...

This was very interesting to read

It was nice to dedicate and write this about you're sibling.
Well done, if you don't mind please as stated in my rules, could you please tell me what inspired you to write this, or which words, stanza or sentence did.
Was it a random thought? Situation? Etc.
Please tell me in your Author Notes.
Thankyou for sharing this

the beginning bit did...somehow with the names changed around, it was easier to make something up to match with it - just another day in the life of me.

Well it's a good rendition of the song, is this a story of yourself? Also, you didn't place which part of my family you would like to be.

Yeah, it's my story; I'd prefer to be sister because I keep in touch more, but cousin will do...
