as I stare disappointment in the face
I wonder if you forgive every disgrace
walking into the glimpse of walls
it pardons me to recall
what begins the ending of our guilt?
on what ground is trust built?
for I beg to differ with my own hands
and foresee their greedy demands
even I am not safe from myself
through my own eyes, they fail
for shelter is not built by wood alone
and I beg for reprieve to atone
if my own eyes seek to destroy
take my sight to bring me joy
for I would take a blind eye
to see your beauty in the sky
than this sin waged war
departing flesh from ones own heart
even now I know that forgiveness is divine
even through sins darkness You shine
so that tomorrow will start anew
and my heart may turn towards you
bringing with it light from the purest sun
knowing a new day has begun
I cry out in forgiveness of the now
and know you hear me somehow
for my heart reaches towards your voice
as I pray for a new choice
a crack in the windowless room
a seam in the hollowed tomb
for tonight hold me in your arms
and keep me safe from all harm
for I seek to only find your path
to bring me through this past
fill me with your peace and hope
Papa give me strength to cope
