I became that tree today
the one that bends
with the strong wind
deep rooted beside family
but knowing this is not
where I am supposed to be
I should be the fern,
one that follows the sun
so as to feel the warmth on fronds
nurtured by a caring soul
and tender hands

Your deep rooted thoughts, wrapped around everything that means anything, never letting go, always growing...yes, a covering of ferns may be your surroundings, perched central to the tree of life, but in the bordering gardens, the beds of roses, sweet as may be, still carry the odd thorn. But you, you will always give the source of encouragement to grow, grow strong, cling to life and all it glory, and nurture your own mind, knowing cultivation of your soul is and always will be met by sunshine, from not only above, but below, reflected back up to you by the seeds and carpets of friendships planted through the years..
Another thinker my friend...

by the standards of your staunch histories
assembling from the gentleness of grace
you are passed from tree and fern
to the avenues of marsh marigolds
on to the fields of sunflowers
befitting your smiling face

Inspirational, natural melancholy...
Your poem is very beautiful, wish I'd have written it. I agree with Pure Thought... and roots run deeper than fronds... just a thought. Take care...
Peace,
Cyn
