By Your Side

I shiver from your touch
Your skin warm against mine
Heat my soul.
I quiver at the thought
Of being in your arms
Never moving.

Make me forget who I am, who I was
Before you touched my life, make me whole again.
Help me to see all that I, I can be
As long as you are always by my side.

Lean into me and take my hand,
Tell me it's okay.
Kiss me one last time, and look at me,
We'll be fine as long as I am by your side.

My body's getting weaker
My heart is working harder
To pump my blood.
My skin is growing colder
My throat so dry and cracking
I can hardly speak.

Tell me again why you're here by my bed
As I waste away, I'm hardly ever awake.
People say that true love never ends
Even when faced with death; I don't believe that yet.

Lean into me and take my hand,
Tell me it's okay.
Kiss me one last time, and look at me,
We'll be fine as long as I am by your side.

Bury me in a coffin of roses upon a grassy hill.
Tell my family I love them so, I'm wishing them farewell.
Take my hand and kiss my fingers and lay them on my chest.
And let your tears fall on my pallid face as I embrace death.

Lean into me and take my hand,
Tell me it's okay.
Kiss me one last time, and look at me,
We'll be fine.

Bury me in a coffin of roses upon a grassy hill.
Tell me family I love them so, I'm wishing them farewell.
Take my hand and kiss my fingers and lay them on my chest.
And let your tears fall on my pallid face as I embrace death.
