I have watched the sun rise to pupil burning brightness
And descend into deepest darkness beyond night,
I have seen the moon in all its formations
And birth into new.
These and hundreds things more
I have seen without you.
All the beauty of our blue marble
The nature of chaos,
But none compared to you.
My heart is shattered,
A pain I hate stays true,
Tiny sparkling pieces carried away
Left with a wound that just won't heal.
I was once frightened that I would never see your smiling wink
Smell your dirty blonde hair
Or caress your coveted flesh,
I felt empty and alone
Like the last grain of sand on a pearl carpeted beach.
Flowers still bloom
The rose still vibrant red,
But upon my many dawns
Their fragrance is gone.
