No Surprise

We were walking along the beach,
that's our favorite getaway...
Her hand in mine, we held each other,
watching the waves and the shore play.

The air was cool, a gentle breeze,
everything felt oh, so right ~
stars were shining from on high,
brighter from a new moon out tonight.

[Chorus]
She put this smile across my lips,
her love has warmed this heart inside...
Hers is the name upon my tongue,
she made heaven and earth collide.
She is the sun that lights my day,
so it shouldn't come as a surprise ~
no, no, it's no surprise...

...she put the moon in my eyes.

The evening sounds played our song,
as we danced to its' melody.
The whole world just washed away
as I held her close, so tenderly...

I remember that night so very clear,
loving her under starry skies...
I said she was so beautiful,
she said I had the moon in my eyes.

[Repeat Chorus]

No, no-n-n-no surprise...
She put the moon in my eyes.

[Break]

[Bridge]
Dancing before me was this beautiful girl,
humming a song born deep in her heart...
No one could tell me that she wasn't perfect ~
she was right for me from the very start.

Yes, I may have the moon in my eyes,
or maybe I'm looking from within my soul.
She is the Love that I've been waiting for ~
she is the only one who makes me whole.

[Trans-Chorus]
She put this smile across my lips,
her love has warmed this heart inside...
Hers is the name upon my tongue,
she made heaven and earth collide.
She is the sun that lights my day,
so it shouldn't come as a surprise ~
no, no, it's no surprise...

[Repeat Chorus]

She is the sun that lights my days,

  ...and she put the moon

    ...in my eyes.

Oh wow!! I know this feeling and I try to get a tune to sing it with. This is absolutely beautiful! This girl must be lucky. If the casual songs of today, had more meaning and descriptive words like this song you've written, then there might be a stronger chance that I would actually listen to radio-music... Now if this had to be a growling lyric type, i would go nuts. Love songs like this will forever live on, this is not the cheap mainstream read I hear around me everyday, this is unique.

Looking forward to hearing someone sing it someday!

    Kind regards
    Sam

The refrain is catchy, but I feel the rest of it is simply written around that hook. I enjoy this, I do, and many songs are no more and find radio airplay! However, as a strict critic, I feel the stanzas could each be more heavy and it would complete the tone of this poem/song.

      Thank you, Rend

I enjoy the art of lyrics, so when my Love said I had the moon in my eyes ~ I really liked that (loved it, really), and kept it close until the words came.

Toby's song is beautiful, but I used the title more are a bouncing point for this piece. To the moon and back, nice play!

Hmm... Maybe I'll see if I can get this to Toby...or Trace...

Thanks again! Your comments are always deeply appreciated, dear friend.

      Love & blessings,

      ~ Tim
