tainted words paint lies
with beautiful phrases
pimp hope in opium
dreams.

arsenic pack wounds
scars hearts black ,
leaving no chance
for redemption.

as shape shifting religions
cast doubt as prayer
for truth drift slowly
to the waste side .

leaving me wondering
why hope for better
when pretty words
change history
every year.
