What Poetry Is

It is in my veins
In every little pitter patter of liquid rain
In the caverns of whispering dark caves
Riding on the rip-roaring blue waves

In the smile of an innocent child
Just as it's in the deep green wild
It's music and magic to my ears
And drowns away my fears

It's the strength of  my spirit
With It's powerful truth it holds within it
The chorus it holds can make me drop to the floor
It's something I long for

It's words of love and hate
Even vows of ones fate
It represents my emotions
Inside of me it sets off an explosion

Like a deep sensual love potion

It sets my soul in motion

It's the infinite sounds that taunts

And it's what my heart wants

I feel like I have been schooled on this subject. Very nice. Also, I would add, that Poetry is the Impossible. Cheers. -The Manatee

Very nice! you read slow and measured but as the poem progresses it speaks faster and becomes impassioned. a good effect considering the topic. Best luck in the contest

While I like the poem and the general idea as well, there are a few places where I would change your word choices. This poem is very well written but i want you to be aware of your syllables in your lines and how they coincide with the others. With my word changes and a fixing the syllables, this is something i would want to hang in my home just to pass by everyday and know it's there.

    Great work, and keep writing!
    -Cass
