NANOWRIMO [[National Novelist Month]]

The sky was three different colors of red, like a fire had lit itself upon the sky and it was burning up the clouds like it was paper.  The rocks felt hard against my bare feet as I walked the gravel road up to my mailbox, I had taken this walk every single day since I moved to Silk Pines Texas, every morning at 11, I would put on my white robe and walk the half a mile to my mailbox, but today was different.. Today would be the last day I would ever take this walk surprisingly, I would take this walk and shut the small red door forever. Today was my last day before I start my new life as the wife of a United States Marine.

It had been three years since my mom told me I had to marry into military, that I would be written out of the family will If I didn’t marry someone who’s life was dedicated to the military. At the time I laughed in her face until God threw me a bone in green camisoles. I sat wide eyed in the ROTC classroom when this random kid ran threw my sight of vision, it took two years of pain and tears to get to the point where I wasn’t afraid or to numb to tell him that I loved him whole heartedly. Now it’s like I was born to say it, and next week ill say it as he slides the gentle ring on my finger that will keep us forever bonded together, no matter how much we fight or where the Marines take him.

The marines may have his body, but I have his heart.
