Water cascading down brings
The Sound into my soul
There it echos round & round
Washing out detrius it found
Purifying image of self
No longer will I
Sit upon the shelf!
Speaking out I must do
Before my day is through
Justice and compassion
We must blend before
We reach the Great Amen
Seeing life through sheltered
Eyes, can I really understand
Others when all they seem
To face is rain?
Will my words bring hope,
Before they face their
Own Great Amen?
How can I see beyond
My ken?
When looking back my lack
Pales dim compared to them
For they have known fears
I have never shared
That led them to Cavern's Night
Without a candle glowing dim
Trying to surface so hard
They give us hope while
Within the Stygian Night, hope;
Justice, and compassion, too
We need to bring within their view
Then perhaps the steps
Not so steep shall be
And they'll set themselves free!

I think
this is the call of every person:
Speaking out I must do
Before my day is through
Justice and compassion
We must blend before
We reach the Great Amen
Life is to be lived to its fullest. In peace, as much as possible among all men. I believe we all need to "speak out" whether in poetry, or in life when we see, wrong, and we know right. Even if only to comfort a soul troubled by a life seemingly useless. I believe all life has worth.
I liked this write very much poet. Good words here.

The thoughts behind this one are great, although the rhyme scheme seems forced at times. Very fascinating choice for a title. This write shows an admirable concern for the well-being of others. nice work!

Ah, my friend, I rarely try to rhyme on purpose. My "muse" dictates the style and content of most of my poetry. I have very little, if any, interest in the 'academics' of writing poetry. That's good for the classroom, though. Anywho, thanks for your comment; compliments, and applause for I do appreciate them.
Every once in a while, I do come back and do a little editing on what I write. One poet, whose writings, I want to read more of is Rimbaud, the French Poet, who turned the creative community of his day upside down. (lol) Hope you have a good evening.
Here's a couple of external links for the poet: Rimbaud.
