As the leaves turn, my mind also turns
Swirling colors pick up in my emotions
Thoughts of my life pass like wind does
Crimson, burnt orange sunsets on brown
tan, golden miles and miles of cornfields
I sit on the brown picket fence placidly;
The last rays of sun hit my pale face hard
My brown freckles highlighted in the tint
tinting back to the truth: Everything dies
See to me fall, autumn isn't depressing;
It's a warning of death to some, but...
to me it's a warning of life being lived
Everything dies but also everything lives
I am still breathing and I feel alive as
death surrounds in such beauty; Life,
Life is still on my red ruby lips kissing me
Telling me to go out and play in the leaves.
The leaves kick up in the air flying away
into the purple sky like pixies in books
As the leaves turn, my mind also turns
All the colors vibrant reminders of life.

Many people seem to believe that autumn is representative of dying, but I have always believed that it is, instead, a time of gathering what we've harvested, a time to bond with our families in gratitude. Good luck in the contest, Poet.
