Quarantine

I just want to be left alone
behind these walls you helped erect.
Fashioned in the shape of a womb
they provide me with a pittance of solace.

The joy you once brought me is gone;
I just want to be left alone.
No longer can I bear your charity-laced stare
that burns into the essence of my being.

The newfound happiness you have discovered
comes with a price I unwillingly pay.
I just want to be left alone
where I might drown my sorrow in tears.

My knees buckle as I walk away.
Each step I sink deeper into the earth
until nothing of who I was remains.

I just want to be left alone.

I understand the feeling behind this completely, and even though I'm a very strong person of deep faith, I still feel this way sometimes. I often tell my friends I'd like to become a hermitess, and live in the wilderness in a cave somewhere, away from every one and everything, because I have been so hurt by the past. My one solace is that it IS the past, and I have a future of change to look forward to.

This is very well written, and it is an honor to be able to read the works of others here, and comment. I'm looking forward to reading more of your works.

I have a similar thought where it'd great to just vanish and start over with a clean slate somewhere (would never happen but something I think about occasioally). And I just loved your thought about solace. Thank you for your kinds words.

    Holy Moly~

First I wanted to say~ Happy to see that quill shaking Warren
and Second~ this swells the eyes for the message touches deep
You bring Joy into the lives of those who cross Your path for I
remember the Gift of You that keeps on giving~ It saddens me
to inhale the Energy that is not as vibrant...
I do Hope You smile like You once did~ because You are a
Blessing even if at times You may not think so I miss seeing
You here and usually when I am on...I don't think You are
    at the same time~
Excellent form~ which I wouldn't expect anything less

Keep that quill dancing my Friend
Thank You for sharing Your Voice
Best wishes in all You do~
    with love & light~ Desire~*~

Your read on me is sadly correct. Life has just been full of drama for me for several weeks and after awhile it does take a toll on you. I've been unable to write for sometime so I resorted to revising older poems to keep myself in practice. I'd like to move away from the darker poems but they seem to be the only things I'm able to pen right now. Thank you for your friendship and continued support. Keep on writing away!

Hello my friend. It is good to see you back at AP, and writing away in the forms you so love. There is a sadness written here, as if you've become numb with trying ineffectively with love. The repeated line states the fact with passion. No one can live in total isolation and aloneness. Your words are piercing and affective. Great write dear one. Glad I dropped in.

    Much Love & Respect ♥

      Great to hear from you

Thank you for your most insightful comment. You saw things in the poem that I didn't even realize were there. No wonder you're one of the best writers on AP. Thank you for your friendship and continued support.
