He was the perfect father,
Sure he had a past,
Did crack and heroine,
But he turned his life around,
It was a slow fade,
Stress was building up,
The mortgage needed to be paid,
He was laid off..
The television was just a mirror with moving pictures..
He broke down..
His wife came home to find him on the couch with a needle in his arm and a gun in his mouth.
She pulled the needle out and he forgot to load his gun.
She franticly called 911..
And words of a song began to play in his mind..
"It's a slow fade when you give yourself away.."

Snazzy. I love the thought of the television being a mirror with moving pictures, I'd never thought of it that way. The progression of the character is clear and straight forward. I love the ending, it gives this poem such a complete sense. The decline is very interesting and the features of it which you focused upon. A very enjoyable read.
