Springtime explodes with a brand new start,
Beginning with the baby animals that touch my heart.
Along with them come new buds on the trees,
Reaching for the sun to burst open tiny leaves.
Before you know it, the ground is aflutter,
With insects crawling over each other.
Wildflowers are next to put on a show.
This is the season that I love so.
Summer tends to sneak up on us,
Coming in silently without any fuss.
Before you know it, it has taken a hold,
And on summertime activities we are sold.
Cook outs or walks in the local park,
Create memories that warm my heart.
Such happy times leave my face aglow.
This is the season that I love so.
Before we know it, there is a chill in the air,
And the grass starts to die as frost lingers there.
The leaves on the trees turn colors in preparation,
For this once a year autumn celebration.
Time to gather the harvest and store it away.
Food for our tummies on bleak rainy days.
I take pictures as the leaves start to blow.
This is the season that I love so.
Catching us unaware as the first snowflake falls,
We awake to a wonderland with great big smiles.
No school or work, the snow is too deep.
Gloves and hats with our coats we seek.
What a beautiful scene nature has on display.
Such fun to be had on a snow holiday.
Wintertime never fails to put on a show.
This is the season that I love so.
Each of the seasons holds a place in my heart,
As I thank God for this brand new start.
A work of art from the master’s hand,
Given to us at his command.
New birth, sunshine, chilly days and snow.
These are the seasons that I love so.

The first line is great! I never thought of springtime as exploding, but now I may think of it always in that way! The delight of the poet in each of the seasons is infectious for the reader. It is a dull mind that will not smile with the images shared from the turning of the year. The refrain is effectively used to sum up the poets feeling for each season and at the end to underscore the joys of all the season as they occur.
