Phone Calls

The phone rings, occasionally
Friends and family on the line
With favours to ask, news to tell
And to advise me they are fine

Can you look after my daughter
I have meeting to attend
I know you won't say no to me
Because you're my faithful friend

But last week when I sat at home
It was the night of halloween
I found out about your party
The one to which you didn't invite me

The distressed teenager phoning
Aunty come and get me now
I'm pregnant, I need to tell my mother
And I'm really not sure how

Everything is soon sorted
The family reconciled with ease
Thank you kindly for you help
But now can you butt out please

And how was you day sweetheart
I listern carefully to all you've done
All the things that were so boring
And all the that things so fun

I think as I hang up the phone
That my day wasn't all that good
I would love to tell you about it
and if you asked me, then I could

Now I just leave it ringing
This machine we call the phone
The marvel of communication
Thats makes you feel so alone.

Author notes

My first poem for a while, probably a bit rusty, but its so nice to express feelings. My computer screen is a bit dodgy so if there are spelling/typos it's prorbably because I can't see what I'm typing properly.
