The rain fell, drops of tiny crystallites
they swim in the twilight,
too many thought it pleasant.
No one noticed the lone girl sitting,
hunkered on the ground
leaning against the park bench.
Staring at graffiti,
her green eyes repeatedly
scanning over the phrase:
Once lost, nah never going back.
Rain drips, down her jaw line
she remains fixed in place.
The red words
slashed on the wall
by somone forgotten.
Once
she was
a shadow.
She stares
water drips off her fingernails
she heaves a breath “nah never going back.”
