Springing The Board

You spring the board the water down below
and briefly now you're up above it all
but as you rise there's something that you know:
a thing goes up that thing has need to fall.

You've played this out in every way you could
a play rehearsed upon the given stage
the angle wrong as well a wall of wood
that surface pierced you've chosen to engage.

Your safety net's the measure of the mind
adroit at things for weighing consequence
the future then a thing that you've designed
by studies made and use of common sense.

You spring the board with confidence and cool
the pool of life a splash – your kind of pool.

I so very much enjoy reading your work, with lines like: "Your safety net's the measure of the mind /adroit at things for weighing consequence " which is very thought-provoking. Our safety net is the measure of a skillful mind which foresees possibilities and outcomes... interesting to ponder, as are all the lines in this poem. Thanks for another thoughtful moment! Lita

    Excellent!

I really enjoyed reading this sonnet, which is positive and uplifting, as well as impeccably written. One does indeed create one's own reality, with our thoughts shaping things in ways many do not understand. In approaching life with confidence and common sense, one cannot go far wrong...

There is a saying that thoughts are things, and what we think we bring to pass. So it would be...
