Abandoned

I followed your
sweet whispers,
like crumbs
along the path.

You smiled
and kept me wanting,
your magic spell
was cast.

I noticed not
my surroundings,
though now
it's crystal clear...

You led me
to the midst of hell,
just to
leave me here...

OMG - that is perfection! I love the imagery - truly relatable to anyone who has been lured and hurt through love.

Your short brief take on the prompt certainly aims to the heart of nowhere, as your with imagery and effective rhyming take us powerfully into a portrayal of someone who has been deceitfully victimized by ssomeone whose purpose was to lead astray....So powerfully and masterfully crafted...I wish you well in the contest!

Oh wow, I love this!! Sadly it is kind of the story of my life lol... A bit of a twisted Hansel and Gretel, I have been lured by lies to my own demise and am currently trying to figure out where Hell's escape hatch is located... O.o

What else to say other than this perfectly captures how I feel, every line paints the perfect fractured fairy tale image... good luck in the contest!

This is very deep and sad!
What a terrible feeling to trust someone so much
only to find that their intentions were negative.
