En L'espoir (By Hope)

The miraculous dance goes on,
With few of its people chained to the ground,
Forced to watch the show,
Through blood-shot eyes,
Bright blood-shot eyes,
How do they survive?

The fire is burning,
In the circle of the murderous dance,
But they no longer feel the warmth,
They're chained to the ground,
No chance of escape,
The arctic cold hits them,
But not a tortured shudder comes out,
How do they survive?

A feasting of the kings,
In front of their eyes,
Not a morsel touches their mouths,
Not a drop of liquid hits their tongues,
They're nothing more than chained skeletons,
Smiling skeletons,
But why?
How do they survive?

The war is raging on,
Them in the middle of the battlefield,
Waiting it out not infear,
While the bullets spray over them,
Some piercing their skin,
They do notcry,
They do not scream,
They are too busy singing,
How do they survive?

Their captors have fled,
Fear engulfed them,
The captors not the skeletons,
Still smiling and singing their little songs,
They're alone in the middle of an open plain,
Stretching for miles,
No one in sight,
Hunger still gnaws at them,
The cold still hits them,
The sting of bullets still remains,
The chains weigh down on them,
Death is raining from the sky,
In a dry rain of rust colored hot air,
Their eyes do not close,
Their hearts still thump quietly,
The night falls upon them,
Yet sleep does not come,
They're still too busy singing their songs,
Days and nights pass,
Until the suncomes over the horizon,
The soldiers flap their wings,
And in a minute the skeletons are freed,
The soldiers say not a thing,
Except,
"How did all survive?"
One hundred days and nights had passed,
One hundred pained years had passed them by,
How was it they survived?
"By hope."

Author notes

En l'espoir is French for 'by hope'. This is what this poem is about. Hope. In the little poem's story, the skeletons are inspired by victims of the Holocaust because they'd been described as "living skeletons" numerous of times by the surviving Holocaust victims. Like some of the Holocaust victims, the only real thing that helped them survive was hope. L'espoir. This was posted on Quizilla.com on 10/30/09 and has been viewed 30 times.

I've read this wrote and for your age, this enters a classical era. I would change the background so many can enjoy it, and not high light the poem so wecan read it. Lovely write though, and I would say, your best I feel.
