Don't Belong

I don't belong
I have forever been a failure to those
Who have needed me the most

I am host to what you've left behind
I am no longer in a reverie
In this, my state of mind
Such a fine day to exit..

Once more, you have unleashed memories
That will reign upon my hardened heart in judgement

I trust no one, my paradise lost
I fear there is no guiding light
Beyond the open door
All for what you've done

You don't belong
Your faith divides us, death unites us
An eternity, in requiem

You've never been a failure to me. Never, not once. Don't feel you don't belong, you'll always have somewhere to belong. The last verse is absolutely beautiful. Please write more?

Nicely done. You used one of my favorite words in this piece (requiem) and for that I salute you. There were hints of alliteration in this piece, but not an overwhelming presence. I don't know if that was intentional or not, but to me it adds a certain level to the work. I do wish it had been a bit longer, I feel you cut yourself short. Regardless though, this was a wonderful poem and I thank you for entering it into my contest.
