To satisfy...to fill a longing up
If it be mortal, merry, or so strong
That be her keeper stolen and corrupt
And so his hours growing ever long
Or maybe, say, a hoping against hope
A beautiful request made by the soul
Upon a lovely maiden or a dope
With which to take an ever-loving stroll
To love and want are such two separate things
That one may wish and want yet wish to love
A strawberry so lonely on a swing
Upon a grape upon a bawling dove
And hers a face with ever so much fear
That I should only want...
('Tis not, my dear)
Author notes
So this was interesting...GO STRAWBERRY SWING.
It's sort of a love vs. lust idea, obviously. The guy who's narrating thinks that the beautiful girl who is the subject of his love (crush, really) might be afraid that his emotions aren't exactly pure.
Sort of. Take it however you like.
