Once on a day in late June
A high leader was killed,
Starting the first World War
Soon people took sides
They never thought it to go
To expand to many kills
And to harm the lives of many
Once again on a day in late June
Many years past,
We signed the treaty of Versailles
A promise to end all this pain
To never again have a battle
That would ruin the lives of so many
To never again cause a war
That lasted so many years.
Once on a day in September,
World War two began,
It started with an order
For Germans to take the Polish
They thought it would be easy
Just invade and that would be it
Instead we started a great battle
Of heart ache, pain, and blood shed.
Once on a day in far April
Germany said it was enough,
Surrending their strength to the Allies
Thus ending part of the struggle,
Though many had died it was a day to rejoice
For the bloodshed may lower in numbers.
And this is why, once on a day in November
We take our time to remember,
Those who have fought
To keep our life as it is
We bare the poppy as a sign of respect
For all those who fought,
‘Lest we forget
