The Math of Poetic Impact

Let
V = the value (impact) of the poem,
m = 'the me factor',
Rr = the reader's reaction (which cannot be predicted accurately and which we haven't much control over)...

the value would be a ratio between the reader's reaction and the 'me' factor; I would raise it to the 13th power, such things being unlucky;

For an instantaneous value we can apply an integral formula, so we can gauge exactly where Rr or m will be at any given instance between the time the poem is begun and when it is finished, which yields the following equation:

(z = the 'dizziness' factor, c is the speed of light); I've inserted 2πr because such arguments tend to be circular...

Smiles are a special quantitative case, and deserve their own equation:

Let
s = the smile; and Ex = external forces acting upon the reader, or the 'me' entity; then

the 4πr2 is the surface area of a sphere, naturally...

and last, a formula for gauging when a reader will yawn, when a concept is over-killed (as I am doing now):

Let
Yf = the yawn factor
Yp = the yawn potential
and Wn = the number of words; then

30 is the number of words that a typical ADHD/OCD person can handle before yawning...

    Ohh this gives me a headache. LOL.

    I so hate math and formulas. You have waaaaay too much patience and time on your hands.

    LOVE the last line. So true. A girl I work with has ADHD (very extreme case of it, too) - it's hilarious to watch her in meetings. She just can't sit still, can't pay attention, has to constantly be moving, shifting, doing something. It's adorable and entertaining (though I didn't find it so amusing when I was her manager and had to try to train her... lol).

    Thanks for sharing... but yeah... I think I'll pass on learning anymore formulas.

    you forgot too add a few other variables, let W= the wow factor, PP=the prosaic possibility,I= the infinite direction of possible number + prosaic combinations to arrive at PP+I=Wcubed over the above equations&formulae(sounds a bit like chaos theory to me) hey! digital prosaic chaos stanzas. i think youv'e just invented a new genre! good read , inventive , innovative as usual!

      thanks for the input... I'm sure the atomic bomb went through the same process... intriguing 'chaos' technique you have...!

      you'll be happy to know that I've added a smile equation... (a special case)... and maybe, after I've taken this idea beyond anyone's tolerance, I can add a 'yawn' factor...!
