Among the Fields of Gold

will you stay with me
will you be my love
among the fields of barley

Eva Cassidy -- Fields of Gold

We walk in dreams, my love it seems
our joy surely extending;
recall the days of the summer glaze
and this winter is suspending
all the seeds of spring, and the blooms that bring
fragrant freedom, not pretending.

Oh my love, come home, stop your absent roam:
to your arms I am surrendering.
Let we sway to love, dance to stars above,
everlasting life transcending.
Will you stay with me, will you be my love
our happiness unending.

I love your use of middle and end rhyme and of course, the subject as well. Finding a lover who is in perfect unison with the union is a rare feat indeed as is this golden verse.

    Sincerely,

I have been thinking of late how "The God Shaped Hole" that prevents contentment outside of communion with creator manifests in our need/desire to find the perfect lover; one who understands, comforts, and accepts us.
And when we find that perfect love- what does that lover want of us?
    To love everyone we meet.

Now. If we could define love......

I really love this poem! It's not just meaningful; it's a joy to recite aloud. The Triquatrain form rings loud in this and yet it's different as you have made it a sextain and I think that adds a rhythm that is a bit more serious than the traditional “Jack and Jill went up a hill” quatrain. Absolutely beautiful!

    Love,
    Amera♥

    Oh I would, I would...
If only I believed in forever.

    Your words touch the hunger
    That we can never satisfy.

happiness is the glory we all seek. and may it all be about love . the poet knows how to express the true feelings of love and trust.
