It Is You' Shadow

Take me hand in hand,
let your heart beat through my fingers.
The breeze cannot shed your warmth.
Tell me you'll change.
Whisper it in my ear, make me believe you.

I won't believe you if you run.
You can run,
if it's worth the pain you will have,
and the pain you will imagine me having.
you can run wild and free.
Free from me,
and your former self.
I will have no pain, because I have been ready.
Ready for a long time.
It will find you, as long as you believe it is there.
Do you believe?
Is that why you are always looking over your shoulder?
To make sure your past doesn't find you,
or that your present isn't lost?
Or do you do it for yourself?
I don't have to ask the questions,
because only you have the answers, and you aren't willing to share.

So run.
Run away from your troubles.
They will be in your shadow,
in your heart.
Unless you face them,
they will chase after you.
Like a spirit,
like a wild wolf.
And one day,
unless you're willing,
to believe, to love, to really start over and forget,
one day,
it will get you,
and by then i wont be then to support you
anymore.

Very unusual take on the prompt. I really like it though. What you said was very true in this lovely story in poetry. Nice flow and meaning with imagery. Keep up the good work you are doing. Good luck in my contest and thank you for entering it. Have a nice night.

This is a great poem!! I love it (of course, you're one of my favorites) and my favorite is "So run." I like abrupt, short lines that lead either a) lead into longer, supremely poetic lines or end poems/stories. Great job StickyNote5!!!
