'Pon history's page she's made her mark
a hunting, shooting lively spark.
At fifteen head of family
life was certainly no fancy spree.
Always on the move somewhere
cussin', drinkin', not a care,
always hunting with the men
fording streams time and again.
She joined the Indian campaign
the army was her next domain,
disguised within the uniform
that soon became her dressing norm.
Where'er she went trouble was made
from then this nickname with her stayed
and soon she met with Buffalo Bill
with General Custer's men she showed her skills.
She rode delivering the U.S. mail
making trips without a fail,
so well known was her reputation
this becoming her salvation.
Deadwood was her favourite town
and here was where she gained renown,
a smallpox epidemic hit,
to care for sufferers she did commit.
With the army she led wagon trains
who built new towns on empty plains,
she wore and knew how to use a gun
never maliciously killing anyone.
She started her own ranch with stock
a wayside in where weary travellers flocked,
her temper was so very well known
and those who questioned soon atoned.
At thirty-three Jane finally wed
but had also taken others to her bed,
becoming the mother of a baby girl
but of this child no more unfurls.
After leaving Deadwood many years
arriving there to many cheers,
that's when she joined a Wild West show
her name around the world did grow.
At fifty-one her time had come
and unto death she did succumb.
She was buried with her one true love
with Wild Bill Hickock from thereof.
She led a life so wild and free
with many she had company,
her memoirs tell of little regret
her name and life we'll not forget.

This is perfect. A great historical write, as you brought her to life in this piece. I didn't know anything about her until reading this. Wonderful job, best of luck in the contest.
