Sapphire slips on a face of brown
Etching clarity into life
Dark hole vents vaporus breath
I view from the shadows
Roughness melts into jeweled smile
Bending into rubies shattered
Frozen tears fall skyward bound
I lean into velvet
Can sunlight castigate the forest
Drifts of amber amid the green
Refracted emeralds glow
I must bow in refrain
Tomes of wisdom cannot behold
Defiance in a bit of sand
Crisp the crack of death cries
I open oysters, clams
Infinity embraces light to fold
Wrapped in blood and blackness mated
Pits of sorrow take life
I cannot wear away
Broken into steps, shining laughter
Glassine traces of others worlds
Sacrificial blade embraces
I fly toward my home
Reverential placement, ordered
Due diligence neath open sky
Hard times, beauty hidden
Jewels cast, fire returns

Thank you for bringing this jewel back, Scribe.

There is such a discerning depth and knowledge to your words in this piece, Ann. There are somber tones and hues which attest to your wisdom of such things, as most true poets have within them, even if they cannot admit it to themselves. This is a wondrous response to the given prompt, my Friend. Thank you for entering my contest, Sweetie. Good luck.

A true poem
Glad to hear the "fire returns". That is so much "you".
