Will I recognise you
I don't know, I'll try
It might me tough
with 40 years gone by
I know that you
won't look the same
Might rely on that badge
displaying your name
Some maybe haggered
Or going grey
I may not remember you
And too polite to say
Some will have glasses
or sport a false hip
Maybe a limp
from a knee, giving gip
You may have widened
become hugely fat
Or covered your baldness
by wearing a hat
There will be those
with a stick or a cane
Some with their wits
and others insane
For these reasons
I might not know you, you see
DAMN! just thought
You may NOT recognise me!!
All my fretting
about attending our do
It just dawned on me
I've aged 40 years too!!
So blow all this worry
If I feel like a fool
I can't wait to see you
My old friends from school

I just claim Alzheimer's I don't remember a week ago let alone 40 years back
a great journey though your thoughts and trepidations as you head towards the reunion...

Love the way poem develops! Well written! You're braver than me. I have yet to attend a reunion! A 40th reunion would really be thought provoking not to mention scary!!!
Thanks for laughs!

Haha this gave me the chuckles
How true. We don't change but they all do
I think that's probably how the reunion would go
Best wishes in the contest

what could i say about a fortieth reunion that hasn't already been beaten to death
twenty years ago...? nothing, i suppose. but you've done a pretty good job with the prompt, twisting the knife with the self-revelation that you too have aged! a
very good effort!
