Long ago lost to me was
a family feeling,
Sending my heart and soul
reeling.
Not knowing just where to
turn,
So much my heart and mind
deeply yearn.
Those thoughts and feelings
were all mine,
Never thought again the sun
would shine.
Then while alone with my
thoughts,
I realized they gave things which
can never be bought.
I carry them with me wherever
I go,
It is them within me everyday
I happily show.
They are not lost , never far
away,
For their love, understanding, compassion
forever with me will stay.

Please don't let the sadness get you down, times will be hard sometimes. Just let your heart open and you will find their love there helping you, lifting you up. You are never alone my dear, they are with you always.

My condolences for the loss of your parents...
This is a beautiful, heart-felt tribute to your family. I also lost both of my parents in 2003, and I still think about them, and I miss them alot. I totally understand how alone it must feel for you. My best wishes are with you always, Kevin. May you find peace and a bit of comforting solace in the love all around you every day.

Such a beautiful and thoughtful write that speaks very much from the heart. I know from reading so manty of oyur pieces how generous a man you are of heart and you tend to feel what others are feelings. It is no less here. So sad when one loses a member of their family. It takes so long to come to terms with and seems to be on the mind constantly. But as you say in your authors notes, they are not gone...but travel with us throughout our lives, watching over us. This was just so beautiful and such a caring write. I wish you all the very best in the contest and thank you for sharing with us.
