she wrote on papyrus but his vinegar breath dissolved downtown lies.

hey uptown girl,

you are the type of female who steals uncials from subway stations, pressing them to pulp paper to form words unfinis-

...

uptown girl,

you wear those bangles to hide the scars, but they take the blame anyways. they all have their indents from when you threw your hands down on that expensive coffee table your mother got for your new apartment; they see it to.

...

uptown girl,

everyday you sit on the metro and play with the straw protruding out of your blended lemonade, a drink far too cold to be drinking in winter, not even half of it drunk. my mouth salivates but the condensation slides onto your hands and you brush it off as it dawdles down your pencil skirt; they soak the hem of it sometimes, and you dont even notice.

...

oh uptown girl,

i lean against the pole in the middle of the moving car, the one with all the gum halfway down it, and little do you know i can read through the papyrus paper. i see all the letters you've brought together and all the prismatic words you could form.

In this line; "[your] the type of female" the word should be [you're] as in "you are".

I love the scenario you played out here. Your words allowed me to see the scene through vivid eyes. I like your take on the prompt and smiled at the ending line, which left me quite surprised. Why lie to her? LOL

Great work! I wish you well in the contest.

    Inspiring.
It sparks something in me, I don't know what, but it's cold, and beautiful, and wants to be written about like this.

...i lean against the pole in the middle of the moving car, the one with all the gum halfway down it - all of it seems to flow so effortlessly, it makes me a little jealous.
