I Found a Pea

I FOUND A PEA

(For Brandon)

I found a pea
And made some tea.
But the tea was not
That great, you see.
So I took the tea
And found a flea
And it was fly
As apple pie.

Now, that was fine,
But all in all
I thought the dish
Was rather small.
What it needed
Was a little zing.
A very tasty,
Crunchy thing.

But crunchy, tasty
Things are rare.
They must be chosen
With great care.
Tweaked and prodded,
Flared and mired,
Double-glazed
And quite inspired.

To my tremendous
Immense pleasure,
I stumbled, yes,
Upon a treasure!
Crispy, crunchy,
Tangy, sweet.
A most decadent,
Delightful treat.

But it squeeked somewhat.
It flipped.  It flopped.
It whizzed.  It wheezed
When it was dropped.
It flapped its wings
And clicked them twice.
So I deep fried it
With pickled rice.

But still it seemed
Quite incomplete.
Not something I would
Want to eat.
It needed still
A helping hand.
Oh, and half a cup
Of Toe-Nail-Jam.

It had a texture
Of the finest lint,
And a curly-que
With a greenish tint.
I was quite pleased,
Quite pleased, indeed,
To have found this find,
To have filled this need.

I added Noggel-Hoggs
In haste,
Perhaps deep-fried
In paper paste.
And page 87
From the book
How To Feed
A Tozzle-Moffed Took

So with the flea,
And with the tea
That I had made
Out of the pea.
And with the fly,
And the apple pie,
An umptious,
Scrumptious
Dish made I.
