The frog Princess

ah the arrogance of youth
As she sat upon her table
In the prime of her life
Waiting for her prince
To carry her away
On a white charger

Instead she got
a school yard full of bullies
they taunted her
and laughed at her
Offered her a poisoned apple
playing tricks on her

someone gave her advice
but did not really understand
she just wanted a prince
To love her and hold her hand
she had read all the books
Seen all the movies

and hoped that one day
He would come
and sweep her off her feet
but he had not come
and she was getting older
time was racing on
And she was alone

a princess in a faery story without a happy ending

  • i have seen this over and over again, in real life, i like the title of the contest and i loved how this poem played out in my head, it was amazing, and sad. we tend to forget that Fairy tales are just that, Tales, stories a kind of escape from the real, keep it flowing
