Tickle Me With Shame

We rely on the ones we love,
not on the blood that runs through our veins.
We live for the simplest caress
we crave for those gestures and tiny pecks.

We seek forgiveness at unapparent times,
behold difference in our precious lives.
Change seems to be a fellow friend,
when we accept the invitation but in the end

we deny the complications,
in hope for them to resolve themselves.
We bury deep within us a form of wisdom
or some may say foolishness.

We command our emotions
as they are our soldiers,
they fight all of our battles,
but we device them with these orders

to hide, to cheat and lie.
To protect the happiness
or to protect ourselves
from shame

We simmer in the bath of maya
letting the molten shimmer
swim in out eyes, our ears, our mouths
so all cannot be clear

We run, yet we stop
as we remain timid with ourselves
yet courageous to the world.
this is what we do,

This is what I know.

Author notes

Maya translates to worldly glitter, which is anything that is worldly: fame, fortune, greed, lust etc. and disrupts your path to become one with God.
