Allspark in a Ring Box

You stole my thunder
and the spark right out of my circuits.
I wanted my chest to be hollow and robotic,
but like the jerk that you are
you stole every good feeling out from under my nose.

I’m not complaining one bit about losing it all,
because with each sweet gesture
I gain back my missed emotion ten-fold.

Promises made are promises kept.

I will see your face again,
sooner than you think.
Maybe I should count the consistency of my thoughts
floating overhead, pulling me up into a clouded existence
with just you and I.

If I counted that world,
you’d never have to say, “I miss you”.

I would be wrapped up in your arms
like a sugar scented Christmas present.
You would be my paper.
I would cover you in poetry,
then wash off any guilt
and enfold you in all new meanings.

I could make the perfect gift,
just untie the bow around my neck.
No matter how scared I am of you falling
back to old flames,

I’ll have your name on my tongue,
and your lips in my dreams.
