He asked the teacher if he could get a drink of water and she told him to get back into his seat and finish his test. He failed that test and cried on the bus going home. When he got home he turned on the TV and stuck in the movie Pinocchio. He never understood why Pinocchio wanted to be real.
He ate his supper that night quietly, while his brothers tossed food at him and his parents yelled at him with a glass of whiskey in their hands. He went to bed without saying night to his family and then kneeled by the side of his bed and prayed for something more.
He prayed for no pain
and he prayed for no
feelings, because without
any feelings then
their would be no pain.
He didn't like to be cold, he wanted so much to stop feeling it. Whenever winter came, he would cry in his room because winter always made him feel lonely. There was nothing around but snow and so it felt like he was standing on an empty canvas, alone.
So he prayed
and he prayed
and he prayed
to stop feeling.
One day during class before Christmas, the teacher asked each student what they wanted and when she got to him, he looked up at her with watery eyes and he said, "I want to be a puppet, like Pinocchio."
The class laughed
and they laughed
and they laughed
because they thought what he said was stupid.
None of them knew how he felt though and none of them knew that he cried as he prayed and none of them knew that his father beat him and none of them knew that his mother just watched and none of them knew that his brothers didn't care and none of them knew what was going on and none of them knew and none of them knew
and none of them knew.
At the end of the movie, Pinocchio turned into a real boy.
He would have switched places with Pinocchio in a second.
