missing

she gladly checked the garden shed

behind every naked shrub

small hands grasped tightly

to the photocopied sheet of paper

found curled in the front door

         missing

        grey tabby, fourteen years old

wearing a collar with red tag

        name: rocky

an indoor cat, declawed and very friendly

she stops

the words she knows already deciphered

holds one pink croc in hand

one on foot

sliding glass door slightly ajar

he's friendly

she announces

and that's all that matters

.

Author notes

she really wanted to find that cat...

    aw.

this breaks my heart, the poetry of life. the views of children are always so innocent and unique.

I love seeing the world through the eyes of a child...shame we lose that innocence
