ironically, at a halloween party

covered with blood
went as a gynecologist
it has gotten strange. yesterday your boyfriend
walked into my house.
we went to the liquor store
along a sidewalk
cold and quietly
discussing why i was upset
which sounded whiny and unreasonable
stopped talking after a block.
Two 40's of Mickey's Ice and a thin joint later
we were on your couch watching a special documentary
on methamphetamine.
You came home not expecting him
got in a mock fight
and rolled around
two puppies in post-teenage love
wrestling on the floor while I spun another cigarette
from the bag I bought next door.
things are going to be different. i'm going to have to play
the grown up. i'm going to need to start
doing laundry. there are dirty dishes in the sink.
a measly one hundred and eighty dollars
in a wasted bank account
and no new funds on the horizon.
i haven't felt this well in weeks.
